From The Owner
You might realize this isn’t a classic, fancy outdoor equipment shop website, it’s hand-made and built by myself. i do things differently, i’m not a big dealership or owned by a corporate, my shop is owned solely by me, an individual who has dedicated their life to building up the best outdoor equipment store there is.
I have spent my entire life in the vast world of outdoor power equipment, 24 years and counting. Now, my shop is not like any ordinary power equipment place, you won’t find an entire building full of expensive shiny equipment and salesmen on the floor pushing sales, i’m not like that and never will be. What you will find at my shop is honestly and professionalism, i believe in keeping equipment going for as long as possible. i will never up-sell or force a sale upon anyone, what you want done to your equipment is what i’ll do, i will even go the extra mile for anyone and for 100% customer satisfaction. I also personally hold many certificates from many manufacturers.
Some may remember me when i was under MCS Power Equipment, i decided to close and restructure to provide a better experience for everyone to not only see that my shop is the best there is, but to be more efficient. Everything and Everyone is the same, only difference on the outside (without getting technical on technology i have implemented and the whole idea behind a fresh new name) is the name change.

OUR HISTORY
Our story begins in the spring of 1999 in a little garage next to a big beautiful house in the Woodfield Park area of Columbia, Our owner found an interest in all things outdoor power equipment, and one day picked up a wrench and a screwdriver and from thereon, spent every waking moment of his childhood reading service manuals, working on lawn mowers and researching the ins and outs of Outdoor power equipment, true dedication and a passion for all things outdoor power, was born.
In 2006 our family decided to move right outside a small town in Kershaw county called Elgin, in August of 2006 a small garage was built in the side-yard next to the house, and it was there where everyone came to us from people that we saw regularly back in Columbia to smiling new faces from Elgin, just to have us work on their lawn mowers. it was from thereon that a legacy would be in the making.
The Beginning
By 2016 things got busy and on July 21 2016 our parent and former company MCS Power Equipment was created, That name was the initials of our owner, it did not take long for word to spread and we had hundreds of customers and quickly outgrew our little garage, we decided to carry parts, and quickly filled a 12 x 24 storage shed completely up, we could not keep stuff on the shelves!
in 2019 we became the first non-commercial location to offer warranty repairs for MTD Products and Champion generators - that was a first for any equipment maker to authorized a non-commercial location for warranty repairs, yes people loved us and trusted us that much!
The Big Move to Lugoff
By Summer of 2020, we quickly realized things were getting out of hand quick, our yard looked like a sea of lawn mowers as far as the eye can see and people still came to our small shop beside our house after all these years, we decided to “pull the trigger”on a big leap of faith, and purchased the commercial location at 35 Roseborough Rd in Lugoff on August 28th 2020 and re-opened at our new, forever home on September 1st 2020 and business exploded, customers poured in and were extremely thankful for our honesty and good work, like we always have done! By 2021 things got even more big - we decided to stock half our building with parts and ran out of room, and even had to hire on a 2nd mechanic! By 2022 we were authorized dealers for over 20 different brands of equipment and held contracts for two of the largest big box retailers in the nation as well as various local, state and county government, yes people preferred us over the other shops because of our integrity, honesty and professionalism.
2023 - RESTRUCTURE AND SPIN OFF FORMING LUGOFF POWER EQUIPMENT LLC
2023 was our biggest year yet, and we realized our technology was severely outdated and we needed better inventory management, a better workflow environment for the shop to be more efficient with repairs, and a better experience for our customers. In December 2023 MCS Power Equipment closed their doors for good and held a 2 week liquidation sale, as we told our customers we were off to bigger and better things, to everyone’s surprise we came back, and on January 25th 2023 Lugoff Power Equipment LLC (stylized as LPE and referred to as Lugoff Outdoor Power) was officially open, with all new technology to better help our customers.
We continue to be independently, and family owned and operated and will forever be that “mom and pop” lawn mower shop everyone remembers!
